Capital Factory launches STATION Austin to carry its programming forward
The new nonprofit takes over Capital Factory's community and innovation initiatives and adds a 23,000-square-foot center focused on dual-use and defense startups.
AUSTIN — Capital Factory used its CF House gathering during SXSW to launch STATION Austin, a new nonprofit created to carry forward the firm's community, programming and innovation initiatives. The launch was celebrated on March 13, 2026.
STATION Austin includes a Center for Dual-Use Innovation, 23,000 square feet dedicated to connecting startup founders with pathways into defense and allied government work, with groups such as the Army Applications Lab, AFWERX and the Defense Innovation Unit co-located on site. The nonprofit will also continue convening events including Fed Supernova, Health Supernova, Austin Tech Week and CF House at SXSW.
Memberships start at $250 per month and include access to an invitation-only mobile app and in-person events, with 24/7 coworking and dedicated offices available at additional cost.
Why it matters
Spinning its programming into a standalone nonprofit is meant to make Capital Factory's ecosystem-building durable beyond any single business cycle. The dual-use center also formalizes Austin's tilt toward defense and government-adjacent startups, a sector that has drawn both capital and protest, and concentrates founders, investors and government buyers in one place.
