AI clinical-trials startup Biorce opens a U.S. office in downtown Austin
The Barcelona-founded health-tech company picked Austin for its second U.S. base, citing the city's mix of deep-tech and healthcare talent.
AUSTIN — Biorce, an AI health-tech company that builds software to accelerate clinical trials, has opened a U.S. office at 515 Congress Ave., its second American location after New York.
The company, founded in Barcelona by a Portuguese founding team, said several members of its leadership are relocating to Texas as it builds out an R&D team locally. Biorce announced in January 2026 that it had closed a Series A of more than $52 million, which it has described as the largest such round raised in Spain or Portugal.
Founder and CEO Pedro Coelho said the company chose Austin primarily for its talent across engineering, data and life sciences.
Why it matters
A European startup choosing Austin over an established coastal biotech hub for its second U.S. office is a vote of confidence in the city's emerging healthcare-technology cluster. It also reflects a broader pattern of international companies using Austin as their American R&D base, betting that the local talent pool can support deep-tech work, not just sales and operations.
The expansion to Austin reflects our commitment to building a global center for AI-driven clinical trial innovation.— Pedro Coelho, Founder and CEO, Biorce
